This December, Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund is proud to honor Carla McFadden as the Volunteer of the Month for her dedication and passion for supporting single parent students.

As a former single parent, Carla understands firsthand the challenges faced by the individuals ASPSF supports. And as the Director of Career Pathways Initiative at the University of Arkansas Monticello, she is passionate about helping all parents go back to school.

“I became a volunteer because being a former single parent has made me passionate about the program,” she said. “Someone had to help me when I was a single parent. This is my way of paying it forward.”

Carla first learned about ASPSF through a former employee and has been an active volunteer in Chicot County for the past two years. Her volunteer work includes reviewing scholarship applications and assisting with award ceremonies. Of all her activities, her favorite is hearing the success stories of ASPSF recipients.

Thank you, Carla, for your time and energy to ensure single parents in Arkansas can access opportunities to achieve their dreams and support their families. Your dedication reminds us that the power of one person’s support can make a world of difference.
