Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund has named Dr. Tina Root as the February 2024 Volunteer of the Month to thank her for the many hours of support she’s given to our single parents.

Since 2019, Dr. Tina Root has interviewed applicants, mentored current recipients, and attended events.

“I am happy to volunteer with the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund,” Tina said. “I can see the difference the scholarship makes for our students and their families.”

As the Director of the Adult Degree Completion Program at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith, she is a wonderful resource for many ASPSF recipients to help them stay on track and reach their educational goals.

“Dr. Root’s support of our students fosters their collegiate success,” Program Manager Christi Brown said.

Tina also went out of her way last summer to help Christi, who had joined ASPSF in June as the program manager for the ASPSF West Region, which includes Crawford, Franklin, Johnson, Logan, Scott, and Sebastian counties.

“Dr. Root has been a great source of encouragement to me,” Christi said. “Starting a new job is difficult, but volunteers like Dr. Root make it easier!”
