ASPSF September 2022 Volunteer of the Month

    Share

It is a pleasure to announce Deborah Walters as Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund’s September 2022 Volunteer of the Month!

Deborah, who lives in Lonoke County, began volunteering with ASPSF’s Central Region in December 2021 as a member of the Student Process Committee.

Deborah was a scholarship recipient of the Logan County Single Parent Scholarship and earned her bachelor’s degree. She now works as a teacher and has a master’s degree in school counseling.

“As a single parent and former recipient, I know the importance of these scholarships. It is important to give back,” she said.

During the initial phone call with Deborah, she immediately stated that she was “willing to help where needed,” words that mean so much to ASPSF.

Deborah quickly became involved, working directly with students. She dedicates time after teaching to calling ASPSF recent graduates. She calls to check on their status after graduating and leaving the program. She provides encouragement and resources to each student she speaks with; providing the encouragement others provided to her during her time in the program.

Because of her dedication to ASPSF and single parents, Deborah has allowed us to continue the relationships with students even after graduation. Thank you, Deb!
