HEAL Program: Maximum Interest Rates for Quarter Ending Sept. 30, 2025

    Share

The U.S. Department of Education’s Federal Student Aid office recently released the updated maximum interest rates for the Health Education Assistance Loan (HEAL) Program for the quarter ending September 30, 2025. Here’s what you need to know:

    Current Maximum Interest Rates

    • Loans made before January 27, 1981: 7.875%
    • Variable-rate loans originated between January 27, 1981, and October 21, 1985: 7.875%
    • Variable-rate loans originated on or after October 22, 1985: 7.375%

These values reflect limits based on 91-day U.S. Treasury bill rates—essential context for HEAL’s variable rate loans.  The must current rates can always be found under the “Current Maximum Interest Rates” section of the HEAL Interest Rates page of the HEAL Information area on the FSA Knowledge Center website.
