Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund is proud to celebrate Liza Raible as the April 2025 Student of the Month. This Pulaski County powerhouse is proving that it’s never too late to chase your dreams.
Liza is currently pursuing a degree in health studies at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She has plans to transfer to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences for a specialized program in cardiac sonography. Her dream job? Scanning hearts at the Arkansas Heart Hospital — and no doubt that her big heart will fit right in there.
After 15 years as an ophthalmic tech at Arkansas Retina, Liza decided it was time to go back to school. With her children now mostly grown — Collin (27), Amani (20), and Kenyon (15) — she finally found the space to do something for herself.
“I just started feeling like I finally had extra time and wanted to do something that my kids would be proud of,” said Liza, who still works at Arkansas Retina while working on her bachelor’s degree.
And proud they are! Her oldest and youngest have both stepped in as her personal tech support team. Whether it’s helping with homework or troubleshooting computer issues, the Raibles are making education a family affair.
Liza first heard about Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund through advertisements. When she made the brave decision to go back to school, she knew it could make a real difference.
She received her first scholarship in Fall 2024, and it’s already been a lifeline: “I was able to use my check to pay my rent and a few other bills,” she shared. And the support hasn’t stopped there. Liza also appreciates the helpful workshops and community that ASPSF provides.

Her hard work and full participation in the ASPSF program haven’t gone unnoticed.
“Liza beautifully exemplifies the sacrifices and determination required to balance being a full-time mother, employee, and student,” ASPSF Program Manager Keisha Williams said. “Her unwavering dedication to our program and her life is truly inspiring!”
Liza has a lot to be proud of: a 4.0 GPA to a full-time, steady job she loves, and “the most amazing children.” Her heart is as big as her ambition, and we’re honored to walk alongside her on this journey.
