Hopefully, you have settled into your classes and are adjusting to your schedule!
With all the fun a new semester brings also comes lovely fall weather. Now, I may be biased, but autumn is my favorite season. As someone who lives in Texas, the fall means cooler weather, orange-red leaves and finally being able to wear a hoodie outside!
You know me – I love music, and I also love to share my favorite songs. To celebrate the upcoming fall weather, I’ve created a list of autumnal albums for your listening pleasure! I hope you find at least one album you love or see a familiar favorite! Happy listening, babe!
- Peripheral Vision – Turnover
First on the list is one of my all-time favorite albums: Peripheral Vision by Turnover! Grab your tissues for this one because it is more on the sad side. Regardless, I love this band, and this album is so special to me.
- Stick season – Noah kahan
The next album is a fan favorite! You may know this one, but even if you don’t know, let me introduce you to Stick Season by Noah Kahan! This album screams fall to me. The sound of this album is very acoustic, giving the vibe of crisp autumn air – perfect for your morning walk to class!
- brent ii – jeremy zucker and chelsea cutler
Moving along, we have Brent ii by Jeremy Zucker and Chelsea Cutler! While this EP only has five songs, it is too good not to put on the list! This EP is the second collaboration between Jeremy Zucker and Chelsea Cutler, and I am obsessed with both. If you enjoy this EP and have a chance to listen to the original, Brent, I would highly recommend it!
- five seconds flat – lizzy mcalpine
By now, everyone should know the song “Ceilings” by Lizzy McAlpine, but everyone should listen to the album that song is from – Five Seconds Flat. This album is very autumnal, and my personal favorite songs are “Firearm” and “Reckless Driving”.
- Stranger in the alps – phoebe bridgers
Stranger in the Alps by Phoebe Bridgers is for my sad girls (or just my cool Phoebe Bridgers-loving girls)! When Spotify Wrapped releases later this year, “Motion Sickness” will definitely be in my top five songs for 2023. This one is, again, on the sadder side, but don’t judge me too hard (I love a good sad song or album)! You can all cry with me!
- Young Men – the walters
If you need a new album to drive down a tree-lined street with your windows down, please listen to Young Men by the Walters! With songs like “Cottage Roads” and “Autumn Leaves” (come on!), this album is perfect for fall!
- the 1975 (deluxe version) by the 1975
I had to give one of my favorite bands a feature on this list, so next up is Self Titled by The 1975 – a must-listen for fall! This record is a no-skip album, but if you need some highlights, “Undo”, “You” and “Fallingforyou” are my favorites. If you want something more upbeat, however, “Settle Down”, “Girls” and “Heart Out” are amazing!

Although Phoebe Bridgers already had a feature on this list, The Record is too fall-coded and phenomenal not to bring up. Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, and Lucy Darcas are the boys of “boygenius”, and they released their second album in March of 2023. The Record is truly beautiful and heartbreaking, and I’m so excited to see it performed live in concert! The classics are “Cool About It” and “Not Strong Enough” but every song is amazing.
- Don’t get dark by del water gap
Next up on the list is Don’t Get Dark by Del Water Gap! This is another EP from one of my new favorite artists. Although this is some of Del Water Gap’s early work, there are many songs to love, including “Don’t Say Nothing” and “To Philly”. His raspy voice and brilliant songwriting created a phenomenal autumnal album and boosted him to be on my list of top artists.
- Landmark by hippo campus
To round out the list, you can never go wrong with some good indie rock from Hippo Campus! Their album, Landmark, is honestly good for any season, but I prominently listen to it as a transition from summer to fall. “Buttercup” and “Way It Goes” are fan favorites, but personally, I listen to “Poems”, “Vines” and “Epitaph”!
If you have the chance to see Hippo Campus live, you should! Their concert was probably one of the best shows I’ve seen!
