Reneé Rapp’s Look At The ‘Mean Girls’ Musical Movie Premiere Was On Trend

    Share

On Jan. 8, the cast of the new Mean Girls movie musical walked the pink carpet, and it’s not my fault I’m totally obsessed with Reneé Rapp’s style. Miss Regina George proved she is a massive deal in a custom look from Christian Siriano’s Spring 2024 collection, complete with one of the upcoming season’s hottest pieces: the corset. Blame it on Bridgerton, balletcore, or coquette aesthetics, but it’s clear that corsets aren’t going anywhere this year, and Rapp’s outfit serves as the perfect Pinterest inspiration for how to bring an edgy-yet-feminine twist to your style.

Rapp layered her baby pink corset with black ribbon detailing over a black satin blazer, and paired it with a long black satin skirt with a high slit. The “Tummy Hurts” singer also accessorized with another one of the year’s biggest trends: silver jewelry. I think it’s fair to finally take this as your sign to buy those Bottega Veneta alternatives you’ve seen all over your FYP, and maybe snag that velvet corset top from Garage you’ve been eyeing, too.

Siriano shared the final look on Instagram writing, “LOVE @reneerapp in Siriano Spring 2024 looking sooooo fabulous tonight at the #meangirls premiere! 🖤💞🌸”

And, if there’s something about Rapp’s outfit that feels familiar, you’re definitely onto something! According to People, Rapp was inspired by none other than the original Regina George (played by Rachel McAdams), who famously wore her neck brace over a short baby pink satin dress for her Spring Fling appearance. I love the attention to detail!

Luckily, the original Mean Girls cast wasn’t just there in spirit — the original Cady Heron, Lindsay Lohan, made a surprise appearance looking perfectly on-trend in a black and silver gown by Alexandre Vautheir. The OG movie star’s glam was also on-point, with a smokey eye and pink lip combo by Kristofer Buckle and her signature red hair styled in mermaid waves by Danielle Priano. While on the carpet, Lohan also made sure to pose with her role’s successor, Angourie Rice.

The Aussie actress wore a stunning grapefruit pink gown by Cucculelli Shaheen with a crystal grid pattern and hand-strung fringe. Also wearing Cucculelli Shaheen was Rice’s co-star, Avantika! The new Karen Smith posed in a flowy silver dress with ornate, beaded detailing and a floor-length cape. She styled her hair in a messy updo and kept her jewelry minimal, opting for just a pair of silver earrings.

And, of course, the Plastics wouldn’t be complete without the ever-so-fetch Gretchen Weiners, played by Bebe Wood. With a chunky emerald green velvet choker, drop waist black corset (!!!), draped white skirt, and white lace tights, Wood was giving Marie Antoinette by Sofia Coppola energy, and I’m totally here for it.

Mean Girls will be released in theaters on Friday, Jan. 12, and I must admit I’m hoping we keep the dressing-for-movies trend alive this year. I mean, any excuse to get together with friends and wear an excessive amount of pink seems like a good idea to me, especially when American Eagle has an exclusive AE x Mean Girls collab. From “That’s So Fetch” crewnecks to denim miniskirts and gold heart necklaces, it’s the ultimate Gen Z take on Y2K fashion.

Soo, get in loser, we’re going to see Mean Girls!
