    There are thousands of scholarships out there. Below you will find many scholarships, most with general eligibility requirements. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

    Student Academy Awards Competition
    Sponsor: Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences
    Amount: Up to $5,000
    Closing Date: May 18, 2025
    Description: Award is open to student filmmakers who are enrolled as a full-time student in a degree-granting program at a college or university recognized by the SAA Executive Committee. Applicant must submit an original film.

    Soil and Water Conservation Scholarship
    Sponsor: Soil Science Society of America
    Amount: $3,500.00
    Closing Date: May 29, 2025
    Description: Scholarship is open to undergraduate juniors and seniors, as well as graduate students who are enrolled in a North American university. Preference will be given to students enrolled in a land grant university, or other universities or colleges have equivalent agricultural curriculum. Applicant must have career goals in soil and water conservation.

    End Distracted Driving Scholarship
    Sponsor: Abrahamson & Uiterwyk
    Amount: $1,500.00
    Closing Date: May 31, 2025
    Description: Scholarship is open to residents of the United States who are graduating high school seniors or current college students. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to distracted driving.

    Fadel Educational Foundation Scholarship
    Sponsor: Fadel Educational Foundation
    Amount: Up to $3,500
    Closing Date: May 31, 2025
    Description: Scholarship is open to current college students are who Muslim and U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

    Fifth Month Scholarship
    Sponsor: Unigo
    Amount: $1,500.00
    Closing Date: May 31, 2025
    Description: Scholarship is open to students 14 years of age or older who are legal residents of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia who are currently enrolled (or will enroll in the future) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education. Applicant must “write a letter to the number five explaining why five is important.”

    First Responders Children’s Foundation Scholarship
    Sponsor: First Responders Children’s Foundation
    Amount: Varies
    Closing Date: May 31, 2025
    Description: Scholarship is open to biological, adopted, or step-children of a police officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, or 911 dispatchers. Applicant must be an incoming or current full-time college student pursuing a bachelor’s associate’s, certificate, graduate, or law degree.

    Fishing Heritage Scholarship
    Sponsor: Central Coast Women for Fisheries, Inc.
    Amount: Varies
    Closing Date: May 31, 2025
    Description: Scholarship is open to descendants of a licensed California commercial fisherman, descendants of the current spouse of a licensed California commercial fisherman, or holder of a valid California commercial fishing license or worked on a vessel licensed by the California Department of Fish and Game for at least the past five years. San Luis Obispo County qualified applicants will have priority of the available scholarship funds.

    Groundbreaker Leadership Scholarship
    Sponsor: Against the Grain Productions
    Amount: $1,500.00
    Closing Date: May 31, 2025
    Description: Scholarship is open to Asian American high school seniors and current college students who are citizens, nationals, or permanent residents of the U.S. and have at least a 3.0 GPA. Applicant must have demonstrated visionary leadership abilities through innovative means.

    Health Care Scholars United Scholarship
    Sponsor: United Health Foundation | Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU)
    Amount: $5,000.00
    Closing Date: May 31, 2025
    Description: Scholarship is open to current undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at a HACU-member institution. Applicant must be pursuing a degree that will lead to careers as Clinical Professionals that may include Physician, Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Nurse, Pharmacist, Dentist, Social Worker, Addiction Counselor, Clinical Psychologist, or other related clinical professions.

    HRI Scholarships
    Sponsor: Horticultural Research Institute (HRI)
    Amount: Varies
    Closing Date: May 31, 2025
    Description: Scholarships are open to students majoring in landscape, horticulture, or related majors. Students should visit website for specific requirements as the organization offers multiple scholarships with different requirements.

    JWV National Youth Achievement Grant Program
    Sponsor: Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America
    Amount: Up to $1,500
    Closing Date: May 31, 2025
    Description: Grant program is open to high school seniors who are direct descendants (children, grandchildren and great grand-children) of members in good standing. In addition to the academic scholarships, there is also a scholarship open specifically to students who have documented athletic achievement during their high school career.

    Lily Pabilona Emerging Entrepreneur Scholarship
    Sponsor: Against the Grain Productions
    Amount: $5,000.00
    Closing Date: May 31, 2025
    Description: Scholarship is open to Asian American high school seniors and current college students pursuing a career in entrepreneurship. Applicant must be a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the U.S. and have at least a 3.0 GPA.

    Lisa Michelle Memorial Fund Scholarship
    Sponsor: Lisa Michelle Memorial Fund
    Amount: $1,000.00
    Closing Date: May 31, 2025
    Description: Scholarship is open to incoming and current college students who will be enrolled in the fall. Applicant must have had a parent or guardian who has passed away due to alcohol, drug, or prescription drug abuse.

    Make Sense Foundation Educational Scholarship
    Sponsor: The Make Sense Foundation
    Amount: Varies
    Closing Date: May 31, 2025
    Description: Scholarship is open to females living in the United States who are preparing to enter college in the fall. Applicant must submit a completed application, personal essay, and two references.
