WyASFAA 2025 Annual Conference Recap – “Through the Years: Our Story, Our Future”

This year’s WyASFAA Annual Conference brought together financial aid professionals from across the state for two energizing days of learning, laughter, and looking ahead. Held April 17–18 at the campus of Casper College, attendees traveled through time with the theme “Through the Years: Our Story, Our Future,” reflecting on how far we’ve come as a profession and how we’ll continue supporting students in the years ahead.
Conference highlights included updates from NASFAA’s Karen McCarthy, a high-energy session with our RMASFAA State Swap guest, James Broscheit from Boseman, Montana encouraging us to “Shake the Funk” and re-engage with our work, as well as a fascinating dive into AI and the future of financial aid from Andrew Ley and student support strategies from Justin Chase Brown, RMASFAA President. Our awards banquet was a definite highlight with attendees dressed to represent their favorite decade and celebrating our shared history. From 20’s flappers to 70’s flower power and 80’s tracksuits, our styles may have differed, but our commitment to students united us all.
Brenda Hicks helped lead discussion on Wyoming’s unique challenges and opportunities in higher education with “What is Our WY.”
WyASFAA remains dedicated to professional development and fostering growth among members. With the help of attendee summary statements and poetic influence from ChatGPT, we closed our business meeting with the following reflection:
