Privacy policy
Effective October 11, 2026
This policy explains what Shnoop.com (“Shnoop”, “we”) collects when you use this website, why, and the choices you have. You can reach us through our contact page.
Browsing the site
You can read every guide without an account and without telling us who you are. Our hosting providers process standard technical information (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver pages and protect the site.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are read and how visitors find us, so we can improve the site. It sets first-party cookies and collects information such as the pages you view, how you arrived, your general location (city level) and device type. We have turned off Google’s advertising features (Google signals and ad personalization), and we don’t use analytics data to identify you or to show you ads. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we don’t load Google Analytics at all. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy; you can also opt out with Google’s browser add-on.
The Shnoop Letter (newsletter)
If you subscribe, we keep your email address in our own email system (Sendy, which we run on Amazon Web Services) and use it only to send the newsletter. If confirmation is required, we’ll first email you a link to confirm. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect right away. We don’t sell or share your address. To prevent abuse, the website itself keeps only a one-way scrambled form of your address and network address (not the address itself) with the date of the sign-up, for up to 13 months.
Gift reminders
If you set a gift reminder, we store your email address, the name you give the reminder, who it’s for and the month and day, so we can email you once a year three weeks beforehand. Nothing is sent until you confirm by email, and unconfirmed requests are deleted after 7 days. Every reminder email has a link that deletes the reminder immediately. We use these details only to send your reminders; we keep a one-way scrambled form of your network address to prevent abuse.
When you contact us
- What we collect: your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message.
- Why: to read and reply to you. Messages are delivered to us by email through our email provider, Resend.
- Spam protection: to stop automated spam we record a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address, not the address itself, and we may use Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a person is using the form. Cloudflare processes technical data for this check under its own privacy policy.
- How long we keep it: messages for up to 12 months; records of blocked spam attempts for up to 30 days. Both are deleted automatically after that.
Links to retailers
Our guides link to other shops. Some links are affiliate links, which means the retailer or its affiliate network may set cookies when you click so a purchase can be credited to us. Those companies’ privacy policies apply once you leave Shnoop. See our affiliate disclosure.
Who processes data for us
- Website hosting and database: Lovable, with infrastructure from Cloudflare and Supabase.
- Email delivery for contact messages: Resend.
- Newsletter: Sendy, self-hosted by us on Amazon Web Services.
- Website analytics: Google Analytics.
- Spam protection: Cloudflare Turnstile.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the information you sent us through the contact form. Use the contact page and choose “Something else”. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor requests we are required to honor.
Children
Shnoop is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update it here and change the effective date above.
